Howard K. Berry Sr. Award

HOWARD K. BERRY, SR. AWARD

The Howard K. Berry, Sr. Award is presented to an Oklahoma County-based organization in recognition of outstanding achievement or contribution to justice or the justice system. The recipient organization will be honored through presentation of the award and a $10,000 grant from the Oklahoma County Bar Foundation.

The recipient organization shall be selected by the Board of the Oklahoma County Bar Foundation from nominations received, without any action on the part of the nominee organization to seek the award or enter the process. Any resident of Oklahoma County may submit a nomination; nominees are not required to be affiliated with the legal profession or justice system.

The recipient organization need not be a legal services provider or justice-related entity, but its achievement or contribution must advance the charitable purposes of the Foundation by promoting justice, equal access to justice for all, and/or improvement of the justice system. No nominee organization will be disqualified by having been previously nominated for any other award recognizing contributions to justice, the justice system, or the legal profession. Receipt of the award does not obligate the recipient organization to provide future services as a condition of receiving the grant or award.

This award is made possible through the generous gift of Oklahoma County Attorney Howard K. Berry, Jr., honoring his father, longtime Oklahoma County Attorney Howard K. Berry, Sr. Mr. Berry’s gift established the Howard K. Berry, Sr. Fund at the Oklahoma County Bar Foundation to provide funding for this award and support other causes related to law and justice.

No special form is required to make a nomination, though a nomination form is available to assist in the process through the Oklahoma County Bar Association office at:

211 N. Robinson Avenue, Suite 240
Oklahoma City, OK 73102

and at www.okcbar.org.

Please keep the following in mind when making nominations:

  • The entire nomination packet—including nomination letter, supporting materials, clippings, letters of support, and attachments—may be no longer than five single-sided 8½” x 11” pages. No exceptions.
